As you are well aware there are new and stronger implications for both athletes and horses when they fail to qualify at an Endurance Event. It is essential that the results represent the true situation and that the Vet Cards support the reasons for elimination where necessary.

Once a combination is eliminated, the reason must be returned to the Organising Committee IT Provider or the person responsible for the results. We would like to remind you that all results have to be signed off by the President of the Ground Jury and it is this person who is responsible that all codes are correct.

If a horse is sent to the clinic for treatment, this should be clearly marked on the Vet Card and this information needs to be fed to the OC IT Provider as well as the President of the Ground Jury so that this can be followed up; this information is vital for the processing of the results as well as for the welfare of the horse.

Emphasis must be made on the elimination code “ME TR”, (please refer to Art.815.3 in the Endurance Rules 2014) as this is sometimes not determined until the horse arrives at the clinic and this information is not sent back to the necessary people.

It is the duty of the Treating Vet and Foreign Veterinary Delegate to retrieve all information from the clinic and feed it back to the President of the Ground Jury and the OC IT Provider.

To remind you of the elimination codes accepted, please find a recap table below:

The OC IT Providers all know how to use this information correctly, they just need to be given the necessary information to be able to submit accurate results to the FEI.
